House exchange: DigitalNomad.nl

In exchange for a week in our house in Egypt and two days online marketing consultancy from Lisa the DigitalNomad.nl family offered us 8 nights in their house in Sanur, Bali. From 16-24 June we were fortunate enough to stay in the home of Peter, Marieke, Thijs and Isa. What a great place! Thanks guys!

Very likely this is the most luxurious accommodation we’ll have on this yearlong trip: three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a big kitchen/living room and… a private pool! Wow. We had a great week, the house really felt like a home and we stayed in and relaxed a lot. Lots of toys for Jace to play with and we all loved the pool 🙂 I even cooked us dinner three times! When we left Egypt I said I’d love to go out for dinner each night, but it was actually really nice to have our own kitchen and make our own food. All three of us love the Indonesian food, but there’s nothing like a home cooked meal.

Marieke was a great help in planning our trip to Bali, answering all our questions (ranging from ‘which brands of diapers do they have?’, ‘how expensive is the sunscreen lotion?’ to ‘how do you take your kids on the motorbike?’) and generally making Bali feel like a great choice for our first stop.

If you ever need an original present for a wedding, house warming, graduation or birthday check out Marieke’s webshop Balivintageliving.nl. She sells really cool wooden Balinese text signs, all handmade and extremely happy and colourful. And if you’re a traveller like us, check out Peter’s new company Moustag.com. Their interactive travel tags will make sure you never loose your luggage and the travel log functionality is pretty awesome too.

Interested in a house exchange too? We’re always on the lookout for great places to stay so don’t hesitate to approach us. For now we’re focussing on Asia, but we’re happy to discuss alternatives. We can offer our lovely holiday house in Dahab, Egypt and work hours (online marketing consultancy, making a new website, marketing strategy or any other kind of work that you need done) in return.
